Rainy days have a charm all their own, don’t they? This painting was inspired by a rainy day I spent in a BNB. Imagine looking out from an open window in a European city, maybe somewhere like Venice, with its historical buildings lining a canal or somewhere closer like downtown Seattle in years gone by or, maybe, New Orleans. The sky is a beautiful mix of warm oranges and purples, contrasted with the cool rain falling gently.
Outside, people go about their business - on their way to a late breakfast or to a meeting or to a date. A vibrant sea of umbrellas in all sorts of colors, create a lively mosaic against the rich tones of the city. The air feels fresh and cool, and there’s something almost magical about the way the rain enhances the colors and atmosphere.
It’s like a snapshot of a moment when nature and urban life blend seamlessly, each enhancing the beauty of the other. To me, this piece really brings out the essence of those picturesque, rainy days where the rain adds a special kind of vibrancy to the scene.
