Persimmony the Hummingbird
Regular price $230.00Hummingbirds are some of nature’s most fascinating birds. Not only do they have a sweet tooth, but they also help pollinate flowers while sipping their nectar. Interestingly, these tiny speedsters are only found naturally in the Western Hemisphere.
The little one, named 'Persimmony' because of his love of our persimmon tree, is a frequent guest at our barn. In folklore, the hummingbird has been associated with being a messenger between those who are alive and those who have passed on. They are symbols of health, beauty, joy, love, luck, and, of course, speed.
Whatever you associate with them, I truly hope you’ll add Persimmony to your wall. Just so you know: only males have brilliant, glittering colors of iridescent feathers; the vibrant color of their feathers is due to the iridescence (not pigmentation); large hummingbirds flap their wings about 12 times a second while the smallest flap about 80 times a second; and their wings have over 900 feathers.
