The inspiration for this painting came from a delightful encounter at SeaWorld. One particular penguin caught my eye as it sauntered back and forth in front of me. Then, it stopped, flipped its head up and down, flapped its wings, and stood still for about three minutes, as if it was posing just for me. It was such a cute and memorable moment.

The Emperor penguin, featured in this piece, is the largest of the eighteen species of penguins found today and one of the largest of all birds.
