For us, Christmas is about celebrating God’s gift to humanity through His Son, Jesus. Part of our tradition is to tell the story of the first Christmas, when Christ was born, and the story of St. Nicholas—a man inspired by the generosity, kindness, and compassion of Jesus.

When we explained to our children that Santa Claus is real, we made sure to tell them that he is represented by the man in the red suit, but one day, they’ll get to know who he really is. As they grew, we let them in on the secret before their friends did—‘Santa’ is ‘us,’ everyone who gives gifts to others without expecting anything in return. So, they get to be Santa to others.
