Watercolor Flowers and Hillside
Regular price $169.99Admittedly, I love flowers. I especially like those that grow willy-nilly along fence lines and up a trellis of vines and along side old buildings. I saw these beauties of nature while walking among cherry blossoms. I sat down and took a photo of them and, only once I'd looked at it did I realize I'd also captured the hillside of a mountain in the background.
Awhile later I watched as a friend of mine (who is also an artist) dab delicate blotches of watercolor on a paper and was amazed as she created a scene reminiscent of paintings I'd seen in a local museum of art. I tried my hand at creating something similar to what I'd captured on my phone and this is the result.
As I created this, I kept in mind that the entire natural world depends on the diffusion of water and sunlight or lack thereof. Just like capillaries intertwine in flowers to spread out the fragile flesh of a petal, I found myself drawn less to rigid boundaries and more to the wandering nature of water and paint. I would have never dreamed it would have taken as long as it did for me to create this but, I think, the time was well spent.
