A good friend of mine inspired this. He keeps and gives away tiny crosses to people he meets - not everyone but just about. The crosses are unobtrusive and not at all eye-catching. But he told me that's sort of the point.

You see, my friend and his wife have two children, both of whom have disabilities. As parents they are constantly 'moving and doing' things for their kids and each other. He told me he keeps his cross in his pocket with his car keys. Each time he reaches for his keys he feels the cross.

So, whenever he's stressed or his wife calls him about the kids (or vice versa) and he feels the cross, it gives him pause - just enough of a break in the daily hustle of life to remember that God is the one who should be the center or his life - not his kids or his wife and especially not himself.

Recently I saw him taking a break and just praying. It wasn't showy or elaborate and the prayer only lasted a minute or so. But it was enough time to impress upon me that my friend lives out his faith.

He's a walking testament to the love of God.
