Henry the Owl

Henry (the owl) was so named by one of the children who come for therapy at our barn. He's been around for longer than we've been here and seems to stay around one of two large trees. We think he's a horned owl but it's hard to tell because he's so well hidden when he's heard. I set up a camera to try to get a photo of him and when I processed all the photos all I could really see was his eyes and a bit of his feathers.

Henry is so consistently in our area, I've started listening for him when I go out at night to check on our horses. I was watching a movie not long ago and realized that Henry sounds almost exactly like the owls you hear on sound tracks of movies.

I've noticed that birds stay away from both the trees he favors so, I'm assuming, he's fierce enough to enforce his territory. After capturing him (or part of him) with my camera I decided to do a painting of our friend the owl.
