Brilliantly Vibrant Butterfly

My mom told me that, as a child, I used to think that butterflies were flying flowers. I love that idea and with their vibrant colors, I can understand why I thought this.

Years later, she gave me a poem by Leigh Gordon Giltner titled, simply, Butterflies.

"As if a bed of bloom had taken wing
Bright marigolds, nasturtiums, zinnias gay
They breast the breeze or, lightly poising, cling
To other flowers not animate as they."

When you look at my butterflies, I'd like to think you'll see hope, life and beauty. They are like visual poems.
