American Flag

I was able to deliver a print of this American Flag canvas to LOTS of veterans. While some of them were shy and others exuberant about getting something substantial that says 'Thank You for Your Service' - all were thankful.

I wrote down a few words that I spoke to them. Here is what I said,

"To you, the men and women who served the people of the United States of America by joining the armed forces, Thank You for Your Service.

A few of you have seen the harrowing storms of war, carrying on your shoulders the weight of our nation’s liberty. You bear scars, both visible and hidden, as silent testaments to your sacrifices - scars and sacrifices I am very aware that I have not had to bear because of you.

Whether or not you've seen battle, each one of you has been willing to stand in the breach to protect not just my family, but every soul that calls this country home. For your unwavering service, for the days and nights you’ve stood guard so we could go about our lives in peace, and for every quiet act of valor you may never be known for, I sincerely thank you.

Regardless of your ethnicity, your education, your religious beliefs or anything else that others might use to divide us, all of YOU have been willing to stand in the gap so that all of US can live in the land of the free because of your bravery.

The American flag, its fabric woven from the very spirit of freedom and the unyielding threads of American resolve, waves not just in the wind, but in the hearts of all who cherish the ideals upon which this great nation was built. We salute (and I thank you for) your heroism because it is the armor and anvil upon which our freedom is forged."
